T.G.I.M.

T.G.I.M.I don’t have much to say. I’m entering full on T-baby stress mode. But I’m alive and hopefully you are too.

Pour yourself a cup of ambition.

  1. hey. i just found your blog a few minutes ago, because i am procrastinating my master thesis 😉
i have to give in my thesis in 5 weeks, so i am in my countdown now and have toooo many to do!
when is your deadline for the thesis? how do you structure your day? do you have to go for work or university or are you every day at home working on thesis?
keep on writing your blog. your articles about thesis are motivating me! 🙂

    1. Hi there 🙂

My deadline is in little more than seven weeks. I’m feeling the pressure too, naturally.

How do I structure my day? I set my alarm to 7, and snooze depending on how well I slept. I prioritise sleep, so sometimes I don’t get up that early (in fact I’m in bed now, writing this). Some days I stay at home, some I don’t. I like mixing it up. I live on campus, so it is very easy to go to a library for working. And it is much more efficient to go to the library. Sometimes I have to force myself to do it, but at the end of the day I get much more done if I go.
I often leave sports (I do yoga and winter bathing in the sea) to the evenings, because it disturbs too much if I start my day with that, but it happens that I will go swimming if my head needs a break. Coffee is a must.
I take a short walk, just to get away from the screen. Especially if the weather is nice. And sometimes I work with pen and paper – writing arguments or scribbling notes. Because looking at the screen too much can be very tiresome (and as you might know, the Internet contains endless ways of procrastination 😉 ).
I work during the day and leave the evenings for reading a book, watching a movie or cooking/dining with friends. And here in December I work in a bookshop two days a week. It is very nice to do something completely else. And I’m also very motivated to get back to my thesis after working. However, I won’t work at all in January.
Also, no partying (one drink or two maybe, but more than that disturbs me and disrupts my routine too much). And if I have appointments I try to schedule them after 5. I like my days as ‘clean’ as possible, because I get disturbed so easily.

I’m so glad that you find my blog motivating 🙂 Blogging is my favourite way of procrastination.
Good luck with your thesis writing! And let me know if I can help in any way.

You should also check the comments on this post https://journalinnea.com/2013/10/04/writing-a-master-thesis-the-ultimate-test-of-self-discipline/ for further advice. They were very helpful to me at least.

    1. Tak for dit virtuelle kram 🙂 Limbo er om noget det rette ord for specialeskrivningen. Nogle dage kan jeg ikke få armene ned, og andre dage ender i en stor overspringshandling.
